To Write Your Beauty

A candle that once lit the world,
Burning in aromatic dreams
And fragrances of your skin
Casting a radiance of beauty
That glistened in my eye,
Was snuffed by the winds of fear
Too soon, too soon

But cooling drips on the taper now remain
Spelling your name
In tears that were known
Only to you

And now my waxen phrases
On a page seem
Insignificant to the
The beauties left to wither
In a grave,

And melt in oozing honey drops
of sadness
Down the sheen of wonderment
As earth and sky resume their course

And I among the grieving cannot
Make my words stay fixed upon
The pages of remorse

For only with your hand could you reverse
Undying grief, in the simplicity of verse

Elizabeth Santos

Your phrases are anything but waxen, dear Liz. They take on a life of their own which glow in the darkest night with their brilliance...this is no exception

Wow! Excellently laced with powerful imaging, especially the 2nd stanza to the end!

Liz, I know I've told you before, but your poetry is so beautiful, and your words so elegant that they seem to just float of the page as I'm reading. I nearly always read your poems twice and sometimes three times. No matter the subject you write about, you make the words dance, dear Lady.

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Liz, you have words and phrases that just amaze and boggle my mind. Without a doubt, you are a genius at putting words together.  And melt in oozing honey drops of sadness;   fascinating!!

Hug for peace, Marti
