A prisoner in solitaire
my brain was tapping on the pipes
waiting with a throbbing vein
of listening intense
and that became the beat-drum-beat
impatient recklessness
pounding like my pacing feet
on a floor of bare concrete
remembering the feel of street
counting off the memories
as I heard the rattle-wheels
of dinner being served.
Trained to drool,
if not for food, then
at least, some company--
a moment of humanity--
I felt fondness for turn-key
disgusted with myself.

My head was pounding
dots and dash
morse code in a ray of hope
I never dared believe was there.
Tapping walls of skull in seek--
I heard the rattled keys return,
opening the door of cell
blackjacked answers
on my head
to questions that I didn't know
that I had even asked.

I love that imagery!
LOL, but you'd be so pretty even in dressed in drool!

K -

I heard the rattled keys return,

blackjacked answers
on my head
to questions that I didn't know
that I had even asked.

If my wings could take me through this wintery sky - I would do so if only to see you smile . . . this is amazing writing xxoo
