Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2003-03-30 07:22 PM

I really don't like you, you know
Most times I couldn't really care less
I don't need you around
I am getting along fine by myself
We talk now and again
And that's just fine by me
We don't have really anything in common
Well, just the one thing
And for that reason, and that alone
I protected you against the storms
I held you when times were hard to bear
I would walk with you when you were scared
And you needed a hand to hold.
We must have been quite the pair, you and I
I was bigger and stronger
I could see the admiration in your eyes
Even though I didn't know it then
You needed to be where I was
When I didn't want you around
But when I saw my kids sitting side by side
Watching the waves
The older protecting the little one
I realized as if I had known all the time
That you are my brother
And I loved you then as I do now

Well, I'm not sure if it makes Tara's Challenge, however, I gave it a shot.

Bradly,

I don't know either, since I haven't seen it yet, but I do know I like this poem, regardless of a challenge. Very touching, indeed, and the picture is perfect for the theme.

Enjoyed, hugs, Pat

Ringo - I don't know about the challenge but this hit a soft spot. I lost my younger brother a few years ago, and this brought back a lot. Thank you...

Ringo, I don't know about the challenge,
either, but I sure do like this poem.
I only have one brother, no sisters. This
reminded me of him. Thank you.
Hugs,
Ethel

(I need to go check out the challenge.)

nice, if a bit sticky.
