At the edge and a doorway,TX

My best friend's father passed away today
He was my father too but there was nothing that I could do
Nothing would have stopped him
He was ready and left with a smile on his face
Here I am with words to say to sad faces
As the faces turn to me I lose my words
I lose my way
Flashback
My father passed to
What were the things that others told me
Those words didn't work for me
I remember
I remembered to remember
HIM

Bright and early in the morning smile on his face heading out the door to work
He loved his job and worked it well
He was loved by many and he loved many
He had these stories that made everything seem right and put a smile to you face
"I remember this one time.."
You helped me to understand the war and that millions weren't killed in vain and that you would do it all over again if you could
I remember that you loved me
I remember that you were always there for me
I remember you

And as I talk I see the tears stop and replace with laughter over memories that help to keep us strong together
Thank you DAUGHTER comes from mom even though I'm not a child of theirs
I say my goodbyes and head home lost in the memories of the day.
I keep thinking that I'm going to wake up from this dream which is reality
I will remember you well Daddy or Dad or Pops...
I will remember you well

Love,
Ladycat

*May the spirits keep you strong Mary.  Know that he was my father too and I miss him also.*

Dancing is the loftiest, the most moving, the most
beautiful of the arts, because it is no mere translation
or abstraction from life; IT IS LIFE I

and yet you focus also on the laughter and joy.
RIP, Dear Ladycat's dad. This one left a huge lump in my throat.

This is a very good poem. It really touched
me, though it is very sad. I enjoyed
reading it. I hope all concerned are doing well.
Hugs,
Ethel
