Listening to every heart

Minding my feathered business
While soaring through the air
I spied in fly a seeding tree
Hanging with no one there…

I invited my friend, “Come and see
This lovely little feeding tree
With roses painted pink in flair
Spied during a wing through air…”

Now my friend is too busy, see?
Eating all that was set for me!
I’m trying to watch but I can’t see
For these corners inhibit me!

I hope my friend remembers to share
I can't guarantee there's food to spare!

absolutely darling poem; I love the line about the "seeding tree"

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

No problem visualizing all the characters of this little drama.  You are always a good read.  KJ

Just a little silly poem...I'd been trying to take this photo the last several days as the birds have been returning and emptying my feeders as fast as I can fill them.  This photo was taken from inside the house and through the glass patio door...I'm surprised it turned out this well - I was afraid there would be some flashback... but no - just two sparrows who can't seem to get enough of a good thing!

Glad I could help with the sunrise, JM...

scorpio - so right...even the crows have come to strip my cottonwood of fresh young branches for their nests...

Virginia, I liked that line too...thanks for noticing!

Kaile - so right...don't worry how much the other is getting - just enjoy the portions alloted you...

and thank you kayjay...

Yep, Enchantress, the robins are counting the buds in our yard as well...just waiting for the first bug to land on the bloom to be scooped up.  In the meantime, they're scavenging the yard and pulling up the fattest worms!

AAWWW, Karilea..I love this poem. Aren't the birds sweet?

I just thought of a cute little story that my Mom and Dad told me happened. They love birds, too, and have feeders in their yard for them. Anyway, they were in the parking lot of the grocery store when a bird flew down right close to them. It was acting like its wing was hurt or something and it looked hungry. So, Mom and Dad got a pice of bread from the loaf and crumbled it up for the little bird. It started chirping like it was thanking them. As soon as they put the bread down and got in the car, a bunch of birds came and helped eat the food. Mom and Dad sat there for a while and were watching the one that acted  like it was hurt and couldn't fly. As soon as that one and the others finished eating they all flew away. So, I guess the first one put on a little act so it could get food for the others. It must have been calling the others to come eat lunch.  LOL

Well, sorry to have gotten so long-winded.

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Karilea - this is so sweet. Our birdfeeder had been packed away in the garage as the snow is gone and the little feathered ones are happily pecking in my garden. Umm...that's NOT all they are doing in my garden either, so spring must have sprung! lol. hugs for this one, Chris

Sue...a few birds?  We seem inundated suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, by crows as well.  I have been watching them tear apart my cottonwood [this could be a blessing] and strip it of small twiggy limbs to take to their nesting area.  A whole new world to watch this spring...

Margherita, thank you.  I am glad you are enjoying both the poem, and photos...

TD - bless you.  My ryhming leaves much to be desired and I know!  Because the best of the best have said "PUHLEEZE don't rhyme..." so I only do it to bug 'em a little...

Charisma!  You're finally back again!  Stay awhile, please!

Linda, the birds are always talking - and I can guarantee you, I'm up early, and listening.  Trust me, they start chirping about 4:10 CST....

Bonnie!  How precious of you to stop by and read!  Thank you!  You spend most of your time in Spiritual - I must get back in there and see what you've been up to!  Don't you like that thought?..."seeding trees"?

Ethel, bless your heart for sharing that story.  I just watched a PBS story about some swans in England - who have been ringing a bell for over 150 years - the parents teaching their young - because a young English girl, who was sick, and could not always walk her moat to feed the swans, attached a bell outside her window to ring, and hopefully the swans would learn to come to her so she could feed them.  Well, the swans took it one step further, and would pull on the small attached rope to ring the girl to bring food to them!  Then taking it one step further, they taught the goslings...who carried it on to THEIR young...

don't EVER tell me an old dog can't learn new tricks - or that any species of God's creation is "dumb".  They are much smarter than we will ever know...and bless your heart for sharing a moment of your mother and father with me...that means SO very much to me!

Ah Chris - now here our winters are not as severe as yours, so my birdfeeders stay out all year long.  We feed our friends, including the rabbits and squirrels [and quite possibly other creatures, according to the tracks we see in the wintertime] all year around.  My husband even put some red grapes outside the other day, and not only the birds were picking them up and carrying them away - but so were the squirrels!  Thank you so much for sharing your spring with me!

Karilea - If I whisper, will you listen?...
