fridays furlough
uncaged and free to breathe,
for a few chainless
hours,
frazzled thoughts come
with scrambled brains,
surge of freedom
on  adrenelin's rush,
the maddening punch
hits the face with a slap,
i zap, then go into overdrive,
i better STOP!
needing to focus, come up with a plot,
pull the reigns in on this spot,
that ive become immersed now in,
i repent,
in lament,
as i try to meet
my real self again,
i scare,
and stare,
instead,
into flower fields
and want to be real,
but leery to then feel
reality's bite,
in coming years
dont want to be beat,
having known that
in younger years,
my fears,
are tied,
in lies
of diguise of who i am,
to please another,
must  i always be tied
going from man to man,
over the fields i stare,
waiting on a dare,
to kick up dirt again,
live the life i began,
off the mainroad, but free
to loudly exclaim, and reclaim
who i am........
in a quiet garden
anxious to bloom again,
knowing i don't care
to be the rose of the field,
with high expectations,
of perfection and grace,
though aloof, it's the proof, of its regal stance,
i try what is best, just for me,
to be,
the daisy,somewhat free,
thriving in simplicity,
its grace - in its normalacy,
neither a stray or pedestaled one,
but it seems, i redeem,
i fall back most days,anyways,
to the fields of wildflowers and weeds,
as i've become accustomed to bleed,
born to that breed,
not caring most days to need,
or survive my own death,
as i surrender,
hands down....
this is all who i am,
im the odd one, off the beaten  path,
it  comes with comfort tho,
but sometimes the price i then pay,
of not having to maintain - the strain,
of pretenses and conform to the proper way,
but instead i'm dismissed, my aura amiss,
misconstrued and confused ,
its all cool tho,
cause to my fans, i still rule,
i am  bliss,
though i'm thought of as some flake on the fringe,
most times, i wont cringe,
when these words to me, are said
with kindness,
at best

Michele,

I liked this self evaluation. A flake on the fringe? Ha! You're not about to flip. How about a woman who embraces herself and all her complexity and is talented and courageous enough to share her with us, each finding some of the same in ourselves. Though can only speak for myself...in you...I often find bits and pieces of me....

Enjoyed, hugs, Pat

Michele, my friend, I believe I like this better than anything of yours I've ever read. You looked inside, wrote what you saw, the way you saw it, and showed your true self to us. I've always liked your honesty in your poems and your replies, but this one is really special.
Thank you for sharing your heart with us.

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Sounds like Time was on your hands
  glistening like the purest sands
getting lost upon your many senses ...
up to, and beyond, any other's fences
  In this, your garden's growth,
  you uncovered your flowers, both

Holy wild flowers and weeds...
Some of the most beautiful creations that God ever dreamed up.

OMG, this was the longest poem I think you ever wrote. It took me several reads to understand it. You gotta shorten them up, as my attention span is getting smaller as I get older. Good thing my other activities havent been effected yet. Once I figured out what you were talking about, I liked it.

Michele - I must say this IS your best - so many thoughts here - truly revealing yourself - in every aspect I see the mother - the young girl - the child and Miss Inked herself - all just longing to fly above those fields of daisies . . .  amazing write here - truly xxoo
