The last of the bones
have been picked cleanly
from the shattered face,
but the pieces of
the shattered heart
remain
fragmented,
more difficult to heal
and still,
she knows she loves him
and will turn the other cheek,
as she was taught.

Turn the other cheek, while picking up a baseball bat.

Kacy, this one made me hurt.
Too many memories of what I
used to do, I guess.

Just for a bit of history, I have worked my way through some past abuse and will no longer turn the second cheek. I encourage my daughter to defend herself but not to be the aggressor.
Thanks all for reading! Domestic and all other forms of violence are unacceptable to me, and I encourage all participants to step back and see where it leads.
