I was evidently bamboozled
as I stood in lamp-post immobility
eyes popping out
in an overwhelming ogle
like tongue of a lapping dog
hanging out
like an act of nature

with finality one could predict
the impending calamity

there was a war going on
in the insides of my head
when young lust took over
and a whistle was blown
and the wind brought back
dreadful echoes

the ever alert ears
had heard the sounds

almost automatically
the head looked down
easily ashamed
of the bashfulness
of youth

silence tried to whisper
sorry

but the eyes
uncontrollable they were
in their lurid follow
of the short skirt
and they were caught
like many times before

but this time they travelled upwards
to see
the sharpness of the stare
the sheerness of the glare

yet they saw something new
they saw the red of the face change
from that of rage to one of blush

quite slowly
blossomed a hint of a smile
with a small tilt of the head
almost accepting the ‘compliment’
and that was quickly followed
by a turn, a spin and
a disappearing act

soon the air had become empty
and an inane space was created
all that was left was
a twinkle in my eyes
and a few extra beats in my heart
and Chanel N° 5 in the air

my canine instincts were functioning
as I inhaled wafts of her presence
before shrugging off her absence
and accepting my bachelorhood

Sudhir Iyer - I've read many of your writings my friend, but this has to be the best or close to it. I really wish this would have been a book submission. This is stunning...

Thank you for sharing the moment.
I loved the innocent desire filled
with the longing need, and hence
the resignation of what may never be.

So good to read you Sudhir~

Sudhir,

Not sure if I've read you before, but this is enough to make me want to see more of your work.

Very talented in capturing what could be and possibly was a real situation. Liked the imagery.

Enjoyed greatly,  Pat
