~~~~~~
Eyes downcast
body trembles
slightly
You realize now
deceit will not
be taken
lightly.
Palms grow damp
Beat of heart
does quicken.
Mouth turns dry
causing tongue
to thicken.
Apology made
with stammered
speech.
Acceptance now
seems far out
of reach.
Unexpected tears
turn pale cheeks
to blush.
Dropping to
your knees
in an embarrassed
hush.
"Please forgive me this"
you plead sincere.
Head bowed in shame
true love lost
you fear.
"Such a fool am I"
"And all for what?"
The answer came swift-
My door
in your face
was shut.
~~~

Oops. Did I stumble into a private feud?
Nothing seems more final than a door slamming in your face.

Chris!  Very good!  An extremely
heartfelt plea when we know we
closed the door to human kindness
much to rapidly.  It is so easy to
misunderstand one another - and to
know when we are inadvertantly closed
an open door...is total understanding.

Thank you for this reminder...

My interpretation a little different.
I thought you meant you closed the door on him/her, who harmed you.

It usually takes me three to four times of being hurt by another before I decide to not even open the door.

Remorse from others has always been my weakness, however. Forgiveness, a must, there go I but by the Grace of God, etc.

But, when a pattern is repeated, no matter the tears of sorrow and remorse for what they've done, for my own protection, I must keep them out of my life. And, turn them over to God to handle....and He will...in time...hopefully, they eventually will have learned, but some simply cannot be honest. Sad!

I liked this. It is a good reminder of where I've been and lessons I've learned along the way of growing up, something, even in my fifties, I sometimes am still trying to do.

Hugs, Pat

Midnitesun, Karilea, Pat & Sandra - thanyou for your comments.
Actually I wrote from past experience of what I "would have liked to have done" to ones who have hurt me. But, I wasn't raised that way. Apologies if sincere, should be accepted.......unless of course you have heard the same old lines time and time again. Yes, this can be thought of in many ways I suppose.

Wow! Your door speaks loud and clear.
But even a door knows that deceipt can never be undone
A powerful kick at the end!

(tears fall down my cheeks) I too can't stand that kind of reaction and sound, dearest friend, I am very sensitive when others shout or scream when they're angry and go to a quiet room so I don't have to hear it and hope I never have to confront that kind of situation! (sad sigh) I hope this doesn't relate to you, dearest friend, I send comforting angel hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Chris, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Ed's reply elicited a giggle from me!
Also enjoyed reading all the other replies that your poem elicited. Seems like there is a whole lot of understanding and identifying going on among your female readers! You can add me to the list as well!

Some apologies are only words without any sincerity whatsoever... they deserve being met by slammed doors. *S*
