Inside the shadow's shadow

0 posted 2003-03-24 01:38 PM

It's warm inside your clutch...
It's ok to want that, right?
Your lips are smooth and soft
Like pillows to rest my head upon
At night and forget the day...
And it's ok to miss that, right?
Your words soothe me, your voice
A rusty yet clear stream of water.
So many times I was lulled to sleep
By the sound of your sweet nothings
Whispered and lost in the depths of my mind.
And it's alright to crave that, right?
It must be.

Searching for some consolation-
Something that says it's ok
To want you
To need you
For I do need you, don't I?
But how is this fair to her
Dreaming of another man
While I sleep next to her,
In the same bed?
It can't be right
That when she touches me
I'm wishing it were his fingers
Grazing on my shuddering skin.
Lost within the guilt,
While she smiles...
Such a sweet smile
And I recognize it
As the naive's grin.
And yet, with a sorrowful distaste
For myself,
I wish it were him
Smiling back at me.
Someone please take away these sinfull thoughts
And let me lay with her,
Guiltless.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Thank you very much Eric
