somebody's dungeon

0 posted 2003-03-23 05:52 PM

I was able for a time
to stand outside the lines,
the pain was on the outskirts
it did not come within.

Then,
a slow, a steady

cracking

a barrage then occured.

Images of carnage
my vision now is blurred,
as tears escape my heart.
The wall has come apart.

My brothers, my sisters
fellow countrymen have fallen.
The sights, the sounds
dear God they are appalling,
and I need a blessed healing
please take away this feeling,
before I fall by the wayside
with a prayer upon my lips.

Before words disappear
no longer on my fingertips,
and I'm silenced mid-wail
supplications to fail.

My cries must reach the heavens,
for the dying, for the dead,
for their country they have bled.

I must be steadfast, till the end,
         to the last.

Freedom comes with such a high price~

You have expressed the harsh reality and the pain of war so very well WhiteRose~
