You say the thing
worrying you most about the war
is losing your job

Let the conception process be halted
so that my thoughts of you
as apathetic and self-centred
be clotted in its infancy
Apologises for awarding myself
the top position
in the pedestal of morality,
for being smug in my perceived
unclueless, noble worries
about the senseless loss of lives

For monetary worries don't besiege me
like a circle of cannibals
slowly moving in for the kill

I am sorry
for once hatching those thoughts
into existance

"am sorry

into existance"

I am glad you did.
It is maddening to listen to people talk about the upward trend in the stock market and how the investors are 'happy' and confident.
Go tell that to the mother of the soldier or the innocent victim who just got blown apart.
It's similar in disgust level to the ones who cry about a paycheck, which usually is only a short-term problem. Physical Death is forever.
Thanks Kaile, for voicing something that has been a nasty thorn in my side for several days now.

I believe that in most instances, we become shallow and self-centred when whatever is happening in this world does not affect us directly.

However, not everyone can be noble enough to consider everything, when one's livelihood is in danger as well. To anyone, the importance of the job, which someone may lose because of the war, may not be equivalent to the lost of lives. But this person maybe the sole breadwinner of a family, and his meager wages is used to feed several mouths. Somehow, I feel that it's just not right to make such comparisons.
