once tapped upon,
dare the heart heed
the warning of mind,

in its attempt
to rationalize
and prophesize
the weaving of webs,

while the heart
seizes a moment's time,

can passions avalanche
be stopped,
a sudden death,
as it begins to seep through
a once guarded gate,

the fragile heart
shrouded in petals of rose,
having once been shattered,
now wears a sacred shell,

battling with the call of mind,
to release desire's overflow,

hesitations, alternations,

treading of known waters
near the safety of shore,

temptation to dive
into the unchartered,
in passions play,

and risk drowning
through exposure...........

What a profound manner in which to describe the ever present conflict of cognitive and emotive states.  And even in those times of rationality and prophesy, how fortunate to have the colorings of the heart to bring some meaning to bear.  Very well done my friend.

I've fought this battle way too many times, maybe one day I'll smarten up and wave the flag in surrender to happiness already

I love this opening!!  Can the heart heed the mind?  I don't think so....well done.  Ken

Michele, this is a really good poem.
It's a very thoughtful write, as well
as being very thought-provoking to
the reader. I enjoyed reading it.

Ethel

Michele - always astounding me here:

can passions avalanche
be stopped,
a sudden death,
as it begins to seep through
a once guarded gate,

the fragile heart
shrouded in petals of rose,
having once been shattered,
now wears a sacred shell,

and here:

temptation to dive
into the unchartered,
in passions play,

and risk drowning
through exposure...........

scary game we all play - almost inevitable but would rather to have loved than not - this I do believe is one of your best I have read (why not go up there and hit that little box that says:  (vote vote vote)

astounding xxoo

E.A. - yes, what a way to go, right?

littlewing, thanks for the time you put into your responses, it is nice to know someone is truly reading .. i am guilty of reading too fast, due to lack of time
at times, tho when the poetry rings true, i know.....re: the book, wish i could , part of
the exposure thing
