Earl Grey, Vivaldi and I
sit by window in anticipation
of a glimpse of site most welcome
not shining sun nor pale moon
to fill my pane of melted sand
but mushroom cloud to mark the end
of stupidity's reign

How incredibly sad that with all its supposed advancement in technology, in thought and rationality that the human race is doomed to a cycle of the same mistakes...I'd give the human race a thumbs up but its much more deserving of another finger instead. How's that for pontificating..(stepping off soapbox and smashing it over the nearest human's head)

Raph, I know what you mean, brother...  I hate to be pessimistic, but I feel similarly.  For a while I've been ashamed to be part of the human race -- especially when I know the dormant and latent beauty present in (almost) each and every one of us, if we could only "learn to let go fear, doubt, and disbelief"...  What a depressing feeling lately...  The Germans described it well with the concept of "Weltschmertz", loosely translated as "the pain of the world within one's heart/soul"...  I'd have to say it's Martinelli's and Alphaville for me.

somedays it would seem that we today are no different and have learned nothing from our past.

sobering...but a well presented thought.

make mine... Absolute Martini and Charlie Parker.

The view from the window is not often clear
and certainly not always what we invision.

It's hard to see sometimes beyond the shadows of doubt......like tea leaves that float to the bottom.

Enjoyed the somber feeling never the less.

I love mushrooms---but definitely not the ones from nuclear weapons...

It seems as tho' parts of humanity are going straight to hades in a flaming bread basket!

--and that's scary as hell!

For me, I'd have the curtains drawn, be soaking in a lilac-scented bubble bath surrounded by lit candles and soothing New Age music playing in surround sound. By the side of the tub I would have a bowl of fresh strawberries and a bubbling glass of Dom Perignon! I wouldn't be afraid of dying because I'd already be in heaven!

Peace & Light,
EA

Give me a black russian, and Three Doors Down. Odd combo..
Anyway, as to the poem, I wish I didn't understand and agree, but I do. What has happened to us? The collective us have blown it, that's for sure.

Nothing will ease the pain I feel today,
not even sweet Amaretto and John's 'Imagine' ...an original Vincent on my wall, or Vincent himself coming through the front door.
And yet....I am strangely calm today, listening to some Native American flute music.

A scary thing when you look at the world, and see how delicate the balance that keeps this from happening is.I do not fear to die, but I fear what kind of world I will deliver my children into.It was supposed to be a better one............oh.....its Nine Inch Nails, and crown royal for me.

Mark got to love zee germans they have a word for everything.

Thanks Cpat appreciate it, want an olive in that?

Sy you sure? Not even a nutritious screwdriver?

Blues there are some days I hold thehope that we're better than this and others where i think the worst is yet to come

Eromyna you can but i still think karoake is evil

Linda sounds like you're preparring for a night of lovin instead, good job thats the real way i want to go out too

Sandra Kahlua and vodka right? The collective us blows..

Kacy it was never about easing the pain, just the final release the final straw, letting go of hope and watching it all circle the drain..sometimes you have to destroy and start from scratch

Jason it's why im deathly afraid to ever have children(besides the thought of ME taking care of someone else) and as for NIN and CR great choice but i've worn my NIN cd's out for awhile..

Oh Raffaele this is really so tremendously sad, as is the situation .... I feel like sitting there at the window with you ... Earl Gray and Vivaldi would be fine for me ....
and I do hope for stupidity's reign to end, but not through the mushroom clouds .... there is an alternative, believe me .... the world IS  awakening even if the darkness is more evident right now, we have to learn to respect and love each other .... I cling to this possibility.
Ti capisco sai!

Margherita pull up a seat I'll prepare a cup for you. I know there's an alternative, just took the pessimistic side of things. The truth is I hope beyond hope, at the same time there's days I think it's best to erase and start anew.
