Walk In Tall Grasses

Come with me, said she
shyly, but wisely
In the veldt of helpless sorrow
I saw her shadow wilt.

Be brave, for His hand is in yours
said she,
slipping her thoughts deeply within me.
For the briefest of moments,
I felt violated as her soul found mine
and we walked, not talking,
souls conversing, complacent.

Shed a short tear for now
Long is the weep for the future
without a loved one
But longer is the Rejoining together
of all Who Are Loved.

And I wept
for the family, for their loss
for the absent days of looking for her
and the disappointment of not finding

Gently, she wiped my cheek
and said: Soon, my friend,
you shall walk in Eden with me
and the grasses bent to her invisible feet
while I bent to my knees
and kissed the ground she had left

For Lyra Nesius 3/20/03
and for her family
with much love and empathy
from Jeff and Dulcy

...oh, no! The waterworks are starting up again!

You are such a wonderful combination of strength and gentleness and that comes shining through all your writing--and this poem was  all the more special because you wrote it for our Dear Lyra. God Bless you!

Peace & Love,
Linda

I have cried buckets for our little chipmunk and when I thought there were no more, you come along with these remarkable and gentle words.

How special she must be feeling to know she was loved by so many.

Hugs, Marti

One of the truest tributes that this dear lady left us, was her ability to bring together all that she loved into one warm embrace.
Happy to read you again Jeff.
This was deeply beautiful. TD

Y'all:

seldom does a soul feel so helpless and so stunned that tears burn rivulets down the side of the face like laser beams.  We thought she wouldn't be called to Heaven's gate for a while, and instead, as if her family hasn't experienced enough sorrow, they must bleed tears once more.  But I got to thinking:  as popular and well-loved and admired as she was here, she will be even more so There.  Her wonderful spirit was training for all of us to enter the Gates with the spirit of righteousness and the might of love.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.
Be well and never forget your blessings.
Dulcy and Jeff

PS. Batman is more spoiled than ever, and a very happy cat Noah!

Hello Jeff
