    Across a Wire

She knew me by my poetry
and took my hand beyond the veil
where we both saw love exhale
leaving pieces of heart to mend
she knew this art

Consigned to gravity
I despaired
and yearned to be air
puffed and blown about would be

not tree   she asked
knowing the way my feet
fall into the damp clods
skipping altogether the garden path

hurry hurrying the latch
that opens the meadow
where wild iris stake the pattern
and straight lines don’t matter

She knew this from my poetry
she knew it from her heart

She was a breeze in air
her voice the music of abundance
all filled up to splashing laugh
gurgled from so many miles
across a wire she made me glad
even though our link to heart was sad

I see her now in heavenly embrace
of those not lost
but traced within her life
I envy her this knowing pleasure
that weaves the end of stife
into being again together

Beautiful, simply gorgeous.

Martie, this is a work of art and brought another bucket load of tears. I think we are all in shock that our little chipmunk is gone. How we will miss her.

She was a breeze in air
her voice the music of abundance
all filled up to splashing laugh
gurgled from so many miles
across a wire she made me glad

How she loved to chat and she had a giggle that can never be forgotten.

Hugs to a special and admired poetress...Marti, with no 'e'

Awwwww Martie, I miss Chipmunk so much, and never even got to meet her. Still I hold her smile in my heart. Thankyou for this. Chris

========================

beyond the poetry...and the inspiration found here...are the bonds formed thru our words...thru the parts of ourselves we discover between each others lines...the things we have in common that connect us by verse and rhyme and allow us to reach out and touch one another..many a special friendship has been formed here, the true gift of this home we share across the distances.
A poetically lovely tribute to a lovely & held dear woman who touched many of us with her kind heart and her brave spirit.
love you girlie

The Sun The Moon The Stars The Sky
none of these would my love deny.
For of all the true found in the blue
its twice as much that I love you.

I love the title you came up with Martie, and again, this couldn't have been a more shining example of your love for others.  I will pray for you both, and yes, some day.

I still can't express how I feel--she was such a comfort to me after my father passed--sought me out she did, and just kept knocking at my walls through poetry and e mails...I'm still amazed.

and it's always with tears that I know I can never re-pay her.

I'm grateful to read the gracious words of everyone, saying it so much more eloquently than I.

*thank you* Martie.

I think you understand me as well as anyone can.

I couldn't pick a favorite tribute to Lyra, whom I did not know well, but you've written with love and honesty.  I think your closing lines above say as clearly and closely as any what we all wish for when it is our turn.  This is very lovely.  Ken

We all loved her so much, didn't we, Martie?  She was a very caring, strong and compationate woman.  I'll dearly miss her.

Oh Martie~  No doubt she knew this too.
In her wisdom she went beyond poetry
and touched the heart.  As you have done so eloquently.

I miss her so, thank you Martie~
