She's so alone,
and it's more than I can stand
in this night that threatens us
with desolation.

"It's not right,
as said by choruses
in my mind,
voices raging that
"it's unjust."

"Regardless,"
I must ask myself,
"what place is it of mine
to step in the way
of things
which surpass my control?"

Her isolation
seems to beat at me,
desperate
to bring anyone along.

This can't be
what she asked for,
nor what anyone deserves.

"Tell me,"
plead her dark eyes,
"tell me where
they all have gone."

But an answer
is not within my reach.

Poor girl.
Poor child,
searching the shallows
within her soul for
clues to the answers
we all have sought.

It is not my place to help.

She's so alone.

remember the sound
that could wake the dead
but nobody woke up at all

Your words are light even in the face of the darkness you paint. I can feel several layers in this piece, and all of them make me glad to have read this.

Thanks, all. I'm barely writing poetry anymore. Don't know where the bloody block came from.

My current status is oogie, meaning uber-bad, since I'm on the comedown from a week with Mike in California, and tha LA smog has left me sick.

Sorry I've never been more sociable, btw; people terrify me, and I don't know how to speak when approached.

Weird like that.

Yeh.

I'm going to go back to moping now.

That's a lie. Mike's on the phone.

Still am moderately mopey.

Loneliness is a terrible thing to imagine.  I'm not entirely sure if this is examination of another person, or self-examination in disguise, but I know the feeling of "it's not my place to help" when regarding someone of such striking loneliness.  You see them all over the place, the quiet ones, those who look like every day is a battle to simply not cry.

But there's nothing to really say to them.  It can be really bothersome.

I think this is the first I've read from you, Lori, and I like your simple, engaging style.  Nicely written.  My vote is in.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Lori, I understand this feeling ever so much, while I am a confident and willing person, I can get so very shy approaching so any people and I know I have to let go otherwise I just feel the isolation again and then I realize the next regret I make right then! (sigh) I hope your vacation with Michael is going wonderfully, sweet friend, God Bless You, I send angel hugs and my vote your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lori, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Thank you.

Lori, I don't think I had read your work before your other book submission. I couldn't tell if it was from personal experiences you write, or if it's from observation. Which ever one it is, you have great talent, Lady, and I thouroughly enjoy your work....would like to read more of it, too...
