Moved from a shack to a barn

Within

This grave and very black night
When I am filled with concern
For the sons and daughters of man

I am taken back to another time
When nights were black
And no less grave

I was anxious for the well being
Of one mans son
(coward)

Did I really hope that the outcome
Would be the end of “god” politic?

Or merely
Spout the rhetoric of dissent
As an inroad to cheap wine
And feverish young women

I took such pride
In being gassed and dragged
And jailed

Now, on this night
I really do hope that these days
Will be the de-clawing of religiosity

But, find myself without fustian shout
Oversweet wine
Or adolescent acquiescent

(coward)
Nor, have any interest
In being reviled and abused

I’ll need to find my peace tonight

Within

I just got home...have been at work since Monday, nonstop, due to the blizzard here. What a mess.
