(The italized quotes throughout this are famous American and Spanish proverbs and sayings said throughout history, makes you wonder doesn’t it?

I beg you, think about history for a while, and I beg you to think about giving peace a chance...just once! )

A Bird In The Hand Is Worth None In The Bush
By: Noah Eaton
3/18/03

"A mill cannot grind with water that is past"
Will we ever learn from our past at last?
"Beggars can never be bankrupt"
So where does that leave all of us?
"Calm weather in June, sets the corn in tune"
Can fields of gold possibly overcome this drought soon?
"If you cut down the trees you will find the wolf"
How many are missing, where did they all go?

"Wishes won't wash dishes.”
But everything feels wishy-washy, ever so inauspicious
"To be a public man is slavery."
Yet why do I feel far more incarcerated in this setting?
"Good weight and measure, are heaven's treasure."
I’d like to re-design the master plan just for pleasure
"Judge, lest ye be judged" once a wise man did say
Oh, Matthew, if only the whole world can respect your lifting phrase…

So tell me who am I, why am I here?
I suppose I never had the chance to make myself clear
When will we learn from history, if it means anything at all?
What do our fathers say when we take at the foundation and let it fall?

Could it be a bird in the hand is worth none in the bush?
Is the blair witch project all misunderstood?
Where’s that advice you should have taken if you could?
White dove, can you hear us now?

"The best mirror is an old friend" [/i]
If he was standing at your front door, why don’t you shake his hand?
"A dog does not always bark at the front gate"
I’ve heard the Boston Terriers barking all night, for goodness sake
"Raise ravens and they will peck our your eye"
Why don’t they ever cry while we’re all blind?
"A horseshoe that clatters wants a nail"
Why won’t you adjust these heels, and so I bail:

Could it be a bird in the hand is worth none in the bush?
Is the blair witch project all misunderstood?
Where’s that advice you should have taken if you could?
White dove, can you hear us now?

Can anyone understand what our forefathers are saying?
You say we’ll all be safe but why isn’t everyone believing?
When did freedom lose its meaning?
Anyway…

"Who ties well, unties well."
Can democracy ever undo the knots from itself?
"The bad gardener quarrels with his rake"
What does he do when there’s no pies left to bake?
"One lawyer will make work for another"
As far as I am concerned, this case will always be left asunder
"Who knows most speaks least"
So I’ll just shut up now and leave…

Could it be a bird in the hand is worth none in the bush?
Is the blair witch project all misunderstood?
Where’s that advice you should have taken if you could?
White dove, can you hear us now?

Can you hear us now?
Can you hear us now?

When will you ever be put in your place?

"Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..."

Shakira

A wonderful post Noah. You do have a way of quietly protesting, with words of peace and love. Truly splendid.
