Darkness (LLC 3/17/03)

There are days when darkness shrouds my world
Like an angry Constrictor squeezing its prey
Breaking me, dancing gleefully at my demise

Others see the darkness coming
And run for shelter rather then risk helping the cursed
They know it can envelop them if they get to close

Some days its perpetual spinning slows and allows breath
Other days it leaves me clutching throat
Gasping for normalcy

Why does darkness stalk me?
Ever present just behind me
Waiting to pounce
Waiting to smother
All semblance of laughter
All hint of happiness
Gone with a flick of the serpents tongue
With a leap of echoing malice

Today was a dark day
I accept and await breath

If you fight darkness it only makes it harder to get through. Amazing write!

You captured suffocating depression quite well.

I like and it is so true:

"Others see the darkness coming"

and your last line, a sign of hope.

..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons..

Thinking about this again. Sometimes it does feel like darkness is stalking you but I found that if you dwell on it we usually make it worse. Again simply amazing!

Yes, it surely did seem like you had a "dark" day! Well, don't forget, spring is just around the corner and hopefully its warm "breath" is just the breath you need to breathe joy back into your life.

Warm hugs,

yes I know about the way the dark comes.. much like a roaring lion seeking somone to devour, or that snake ready to suffocate us, yes, I do understand that. I hope that the days ahead are better.
breath is good, I see you have hope
Awesome poem.

Sue - this is amazing!  God I know what this feels like:

Others see the darkness coming
And run for shelter rather then risk helping the cursed
They know it can envelop them if they get to close

little do they know that the storm isnt all that bad xxoo
