Sparrow

Perching
On the yard wall,
And she’ll fly if I move.
For sparrows, terror makes the rules.
My freezing here will change nothing for her,
Fear and flight hard wired responses,
Nothing to her or me.
Still I hold here,
Perching.

Ed...If I spoke Sparrow, I'd tell him how gentle you are.  Liked this thought...can see you being so still, even hardly breathing.

Ed,

So well writtn; I like this line:

"fear and flight hard wired responses"

and I personally remain perched, perfectly still because I so enjoy just watching them be a bird....

In any case the content ~almost~, but not quite took away realization this is a very specific form of poetry writing. Glad you shared both with us.

Hugs, Pat

I liked how you used the sparrow to convey the message, that some things are better left alone.

Very clever and insightful writing~

I know this, but with a face like mine its not movement that scares animals away..or children..or women..lol
