By force opposed, the summoner,
enlists to his command,
the mightiest within his ranks,
to make a final stand.

The valiant and the honor bound,
to flank him side by side.
No fearsome dogs of war are these,
set loose on country-side.

Brave men pay tribute to their cause,
determined to be just.
They speak to us of higher laws
in which we place our trust.

Combined, their efforts can amass
the greatest force of all,
the strength to do what's right before
our folly kills us all.

To summon reason, they implore,
we give them half a chance.
One hopes words might avert all wars,
the only proper stance.

reading 1: boring

reading 2: interesting

reading 3: nice rhyme, lyrical in its semi rythm

reading 4: into my library

it grew on me, really.
the simple language and loose form truly speak to the subject. even though you don't mention them I can just see throngs of simple people - farmers, students, working joes, etc., lining up.

btw, it is valiant

majnu,
Thanks friend, both for the comments and the correction. Indeed, simple thoughts, simple words, simple phrasing( it's not meant to be rocket science), I'm glad you took the time to see through it.

I don't lean towards rocket science anyway..
I thought you handled the subject well...rhythm and all.

It wiould be a better world should words be enough. Unfortunatly...
Having been there, I can honestly tell you that the thoughts and hearts of America's fighting men and women are perfectly portrayed within. There is definately a reason for you to continue writing.

Ringo,
Thank you. Unfortunately, the last resort is too often the only one. My heart is with those who will suffer because of it.
