Aerials
By: Noah Eaton
8/15/02

Hanging...

Hanging...

From the ceiling of your Savoy ballroom
You're wielding a Purple Heart
Above a menagerie of voiceless crowds

Propelling...

Propelling...

Where the sky has no gravity
Gyrating along all the ropes of constellations
So smooth and undefined

You're

d
  a
   n
    g
     l
      i
      n
           g

then

                g
              n
            i
          d
        n
      e
    c
  s
a

again...
Free-falling from a

   t
      r
a
    p
        e
            z
       e

to the audience below...

Come on now
Let's find grace in gravity
You're a Lindy Hopper beneath your flesh
Come on now
Hang with me
We'll make waves and ankle hangs...

Hang your knees
From your ankle bar from your precipice
No need to feel hysterical or melodramatic
Confidence comes from precision
Let this be your Cirque du Soleil

You're Zen and the art of everything
It's all cradling you in high-wire
Work your spirits in tandem
Juggle them
You're in synch

Before you know it you're

                    t
                       w
                         i
                       s
                     t
                       i
                          n
                         g

and...
                             t
                               u
                              r
                             n
                           i
                          n
                             g

And from your cenacle you see the stars fall
And become part of your melting pot...

I'll be your team-mate
Lean forward and arch your back
Swing through the lyras
Tumble off the top into my lap
I'll be your team-mate
Flip backward from your corde lisse

I'll
      be
          there
                 to
                    catch
                          you...

As time freezes still...

Let your body

                    rise...

softly...
to the limelight...

This gest my vote.  The poem is a wonderful combination of both poetic style and imagery formed with words.  I believe this is the first time I've read a piece of yours.  I'll be sure to try to follow your *career* here at Passions with your unique poetic style.

(smiles) Yay! Thank you everyone, you are such special friends to my heart! I felt this would really work in Reflections as we are all like acrobats; we have to trust each other and in trust there is success and grace, and so we all really reflect these qualities, no matter who you are! So hang on and enjoy the ride!

Yay! Thank you all!

I think the phrase "poetry in motion" best describes this poem. (Big Smiles) Not only is your poem artistic but your poem is also very entertaining to read. As I read your poem, I started feeling a sense of mental freedom and a kind of light heartedness. I think it is most wonderful when readers can experience a poem rather than just read a poem and this definitely is a poem that one can indulge themselves in the experience of it all. Excellent job here.  I greatly enjoyed it.
