The week has passed work's done at last
so I'm gonna go have some fun
I know a spot where the music rocks
and the girls are two to one
gonna stroll in there like I'm walkin on air
try to act like I'm twenty-one
use words for amazin the ladies just waitin
for a partying son of a gun

Hey, it's Friday night at the old Sweetwaters
I'm gonna dance with sympathy's daughter
fill up with whiskey then I'll share my mind
and laugh and sing till closing time
Try to convince young Mary or Jane
I'm the Don Quixote for love starved pain
with just for men hair and brand new suit
I'm an esquire cover up for missin you.

well, I'm out in the hall after last call
the lights turned up hurting my eyes
Thinkin bout you and the things we'd do
roll in and out of my mind
I get polite smiles once in a while
from some young girl passin by
But the truth be known I'm so alone
I'm getting ready to cry

Hey, it's Friday night at the old Sweetwaters
I had a dance with sympathy's daughter
I drank me some whiskey and spoke my mind
now I'm by myself at closing time
There ain't no Mary or no Jane
Just me thinkin bout you again
with just for men hair and brand new suit
I'm an esquire cover up for missing you

bridge
We'd order Friday night pizza then we'd laugh
cause we couldn't make love feelin so fat
but when the morning came we'd shower together
skin to skin two lovers in heaven
now I'm payin the price for foolin around
out all alone for a night on the town.

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

Almost seems like this one should be titled "Paying the Price For Fooling Around." James

(smiles) Oh Eric, this is tinged with yearning and sadness but such a cleverly written ballad, sweet friend, you truly know how to croon the blues, I would love to hear this put in MP3 format so I can hear you wail once again, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eric, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I like this very much, ethome... I wish I could hear it... but the lyrics create their own melody as I read. *S* This stanza just jumped out at me... mask-slipped reality. *S*
