something slips away,
becoming silent as it pales,
the rainbow,
its once colorful fan,
spreading out,
brilliant,
beneath the touch of sun,

starting to retract,
its strength siphoned out,
pinks and purples scattered about,
without direction, gone astray.........

so heartless, and cruel,
to lose control,
of how it was supposed to be written,

the ensuing truth and fairytale's end,
becoming one of slow demise,
but lacking the glory and grace
to simply vanish into thin air,
as recycled pastels for a setting sun,

instead,
becoming one of old paint,
left to tarnish,
running down the drain,
into the stench of dark, littered sewers,
or morphing
with caked up puddles of mud,
filled with tossed cigarettes, broken glass,
broken dreams,

not sustaining itself
for a celebration
of  silver's 25,
but leaving
instead,
in a resounding
inevitable

THUD

Michele,

Oh dear, this is so well written and soooo sad. Heart hugs to you,

Love, Pat

PS, I like the line:

"recycled  pastels for a setting sun"
among other imagery well expressed.

This one has great images. I love the ending, 'inevitable THUD'. Great lines.

Michele~ The is very beautiful and so sad.
Could read the resignation in every word.
Your poetic voice is really something
and I admire your ability to write with such
straight forward grace.

Another side of Michele surfaces. And how dark is the dark side....where does it take you? To special places? Tell us more!

Loved it as I do all your work
I loved the comparisons here....
