A Thousand Lifetimes

I have sailed a thousand journeys
I have lived a thousand dreams
I have held a thousand wishes
Planed a thousand foolish schemes

I have lost tenfold and more times
I have wandered paths alone
I have fought enormous battles
Slaying dragons on my own

I have spanned the highest reaches
I have gazed at far most stars
But in all my expectations
Never realized love like ours

I have knelt to God in reverence
I have humbled many men
Spent a lifetime simply searching
Traveling far and back again

I have borne the grief of many
I have lived the life of few
But I’ve never loved another
Quite the way that I love you

I have pondered all life’s mysteries
I have written words in rhyme
I have cursed the saints in heaven
Held the hand of love in mine

I have dug a thousand trenches
Buried pasts and let them lay
I’ve revealed a thousand secrets
In the words I’ve had to say

And if now my journeys ended
If I’ve lived all I can be
Let me sleep the sleep of ages
Content in knowing you loved me

~ Ruth

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

I don't know who made the request, Ruth...
but I'm sure glad they did...

however, if you made it a Book Submission,
I could come back and vote!

Oh yes, Ruth. There is contentment in
knowing for sure that you are loved,
isn't there?

Thank you for reposting this. It's
absolutely beautiful.

Now if only I lived a life such as that...imagine the adventures...the knowledge...the wisdom...what an epic tale. Wonderfully written. I can't even pick a favourite line!

Ruth,

I remember this, too. It is so special. I love it. It is wonderful and should be included in the book.
