When I reach my home’s twilight,
Till I remove me from sight, Kiss the darkness.

Then before the dwelling there,
I just stare before the light, Kiss the darkness.

As I reach to start the glow,
Already know if wrong or right, Kiss the darkness.

As I hear the switch to click,
Just so quick ending the night, Kiss the darkness.

Before the speed searing light,
Eyes closed tight, gloom before sight, Kiss the darkness.

Gloom

This is in a “Nazm” style or a “Qita Ghazal” because it is of a single theme.
Ghazal

Originally from the Iranian/Persian Qasida and refined in India
A form of five to fifteen couplets, where the couplets are typically of different themes i.e. a series of two line poems. The couplets have both internal and external rhyme which links the couplets.  The couplet meter and length can vary, but the reframe must have the same meter and preferably the same intonation.  The rhyme is set in the opening couplet and ends the first line and is just before the reframe on the second, setting the tone and the mood of the poem.  After the opening couplet the first of the two line may vary in rhyme, but the second has the rhyme and the reframe ending.  The final couplet often is a signature couplet where the poet invokes himself in the first, second or third person.

I love the various ghazal forms. I really like this one, and enjoyed learning a bit more about them.

Prof, thank you for telling me of a form of poetry I've never heard of. ...and for giving an example of it, too. I love all these different forms of poetry I'm learning about.
Hugs,
Ethel
