No Excuses

Excuse me if I prefer Dylan to Robert Frost,
B.B.King to L.Beethoven
or a sunset to painted cloth.

Forgive me too if I be just what I am,
when it seems like everybody
thinks I need to be like them.

Pardon me please if my tune might change it’s timing
or if form sometimes escapes
and not every lines a rhyming.

For it would be an awfully boring song if we all sang the same,
it’s differences that makes us each unique
and keeps interest in this game.

Live like it's your last day...
Dance like nobody's watching...
Love like you've never been hurt...

That you can like things differently than I only broadens our horizons if we share.  If we find we like the same things, well then...that only adds to the feast!  Enjoyed this Ray...thank you!

Well, this poem doesn't need any excuses. I like it as a statement of position, but I like it better as a cute verse.

with no diversity we would all would probably be in a cold cave with no fire today it is the community of ideas that spurs us onward.
