what do you know?
you're there, but you really aren't

you're so wrapped up in yourself.
do you have any idea of what i'm going through?
do you even know anything about my brothers and sisters,
your sons and daughters?

You sit around all day.
do you know what i did today?
did you know that Ben got an A on his test,
or even realize that Zack was back?

You yell at us all the time.
do you even know what i said to my teacher?
did you even know that today Emma said her first whole sentence,
and was so proud of herself.

you think you know everything.
do you know how much trouble i got in, at school today?
did you even know that i was suspended,
or realize that i didn't come home last night?

you know you're so smart.
do you know Megan has a 4.0 average?
did you even know that sammy, little sammy,
your son realized there's more than one way to tie a shoe?

What do you know?
do you know what we say when your gone?
do you know my brothers and sisters,
your sons and daughters don't even like you?

What do you know?
you're there, but you really aren't

this breaks my heart, and I've seen it more than once...and I hope it's not a personal experience for you.

Well I count six kids anyway, apparently lacking at least one parent's presence and I suspect from the tone for not a good reason. While I hope it's fiction something tells me it isn't and it forces my head down. Good luck.

oh ouch... this story is true so many times and each time its just devistating... it makes me realise why things in the world keep getting worse. But its just so so sad.

So much pain, anger and frustration. A very sad story. I hope it isn't yours but unfortunately it is the story in far too many families.
