Writing feelings from the
depth of heart
she tries to describe
her thoughts

Sometimes writing of pain
embedded deep within
Writing so that maybe some healing
will come for the scars
of heart aches

Most times she writes of
the happiness she
feels with the love of her life
of the stars and moon
the velvet skies
moonlit nights
whispers of love from
the breeze

She tells of the true love
they have found
wanting others to share
in the feelings
of her joy

One day she happened
upon a place
where she could share her thoughts
feelings of her heart
She knew when she first came
even before joining this group of writers
that her writing was so little compared
to the talents she found on
these pages
so little, except that it did come
from her heart

She then decided to write her heart
on these pages
and to her amazement
these talents
these giants among writers
accepted her and called these
writes from her heart
poetry

These caring people have
supported her
encouraged her
have given to her their love and friendship
from their hearts
most have
anyway

Still
some days she wonders
if these writings from her heart
really do belong here
amongst all these
giants
all these real writers
of real
poetry

Lovely... and of course your poetry is real. Poetry unfelt by the writer will almost always leave the reader with no real feeling. You feel your poetry before it hits the page, I know... and I had nice goosebumps and a smile when reading this piece, so you see... there you are, a real poet, where real poets post.
You belong and are one with the giants.

the only man worth your tears will never make you cry

Ethel,

I surely can relate to how you feel regarding posting attempts of capturing our feelings and wondering if they belong here, among those who write so perfectly.

But, it is what others have said to you already. Your poetry is heartfelt and really has changed quite a bit. You've ventured out and tried different styles and never failed at any of them.

Most, you capture love with such beauty and honesty and wholesomeness it is a delight to read.

You do have talent, and that perfection seen in the giants didn't happen overnight. I think it is about practice as with anything we attempt.

I can see a lot of growth in your poetry. It is all enjoyable.

Glad to see you posting.

Hugs,  Pat

(smiles) Believe me when I say this, in poetry there is no such thing as talent, for like my signature from Shakira says, "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story!". Everyone has a story to tell and all words that are honest is truly meaningful! (kiss on cheek) Everyone belongs along one another, and there is no such thing as proportion among us poets as we all have a song to sing! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, you are loved by us all and are so very special, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Oh Ethel, I understand how you feel, as I too feel far inferior to many of the poetic giants of this site. But let me assure you, you belong; you really belong.

And I am glad you're here.

Hugs and luvs, Marti

This is just what I needed to read today... when my own inferiority complex is telling me to slink away and quit embarrassing myself. *S*

But as even a cat can look at a king, I can admire and appreciate even if I never rise above midget stature. *S*

As for you, dear lady... your big beautiful heart soars to lofty heights... you definitely belong. *S*

You know PiP is such a wonderful place. We don't have too many 'egos' around here. Everyone is encouraged to post what they write, whether it's their first poem or their millionth. Quality may vary but the feelings are always there - if it comes from your heart, it's poetry. When I read a poem by Balladeer or Cpat Hair or serenity (or Michael Anderson where are you), I wonder why anyone would read my lousy stuff!! There are no poetic giants here..some poets are just standing on a higher hill than the rest of us!

keep writing them..we'll keep reading...

so sorry.. the irony of it however is just so amusing to me this morning..

Capt. Ron, I've noticed that you are always putting your poetry down in your responses to others replies. All this time, I thought you were just being humble. Do you honestly sometimes think your work isn't as good as others? Now, that idea is funny to me, because in my eyes, your writing is right up there with the greatest poets of all time!!!!!! Sometimes, I don't even feel like I'll give a sufficient reply to your poetry.

Hugs,
Ethel

Ethel,
i well remember the poem you wrote about how your country men should support your troops unreservedly, no matter what happens because you felt that they were unfairly shortcharged during the Vietnam War....

what poetry does is to present an unique point of view...i don't spend much time at this site these days so i don't really get to read your love poetry all that much but your grounded perspective hit me hard during your troops poem and made it memorable...

sometimes, that's all to it about writing, isn't it? about it being your point of view..and we keep on trying, hoping to enrich our world so...

keep writing!

Kaile, you may never know just how much I appreciate your kind words.

Yes, you're right about what poetry is, come to think of it.....just as most forms of writing are the individual authors point of view. Thank you for reminding me.

As for the poem about the troops, I really feel that way, even though I hope and pray that we will always have peace and not war. I love everybody and it hurts me to think of anyone getting hurt in any way.

Thank you again, for reading and replying to my poem.

Heart Hugs,
Ethel
