for Cindy

Precious photograph pressed in a book
If only I'd been given one more look
I'd still see the child, but also a friend
If only this might have been.

How sweet were our times of cuddling at night
As I held your softness until morning's light
It seemed our closeness could never end
Forever together was my intent.

But life interfered in the cruelest ways
And another mother was the one who raised
You to where womanhood would soon begin
But a love for me deep within

Led you to find me, who'd given you birth
And nothing else on this whole wide earth
Was more precious than your voice seeking kin
We set up a meeting, but then

A twist of fate brought an angel choir
To take you home to heaven or higher
Before I could gaze on your precious grin
My world crashed into sorrow's spin.

Precious photograph pressed in a book
A heart full of love yearns for one more look,
One more word, one smile, one touch to your skin
If only this might have been.

Wow... this is so lovingly sad. However,
it is good to remember what we can with tenderness.

Suthern Lady, I don't think I know the concerned friends you wrote this for, but I do know that you are a very caring and loving friend for someone to have. This is so precious and I know that your friend loves it, too. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Nan: As long as she wants a friend, I'm here. *S* Thank you very much! *S* I hope she likes it. *S*

M'Toe: I never knew Rachel... but I came to love her through Cindy... and believe she truly is an angel. *S* Thank you very much! *S*

Blooming Rose: Sometimes memories hurt... but whatever would we do without them? *S* Thank you so much! *S*

James Michael: Thank you for reading it with such kind eyes. *S* I appreciate that. *S*

Toerag: If you approve, I'll stop worrying. *S* Thank you ever so much, dearest friend. *S*

garysgirl: RainbowGirl/Cindy is a fantastic lady who's encountered far too many tough situations. She doesn't visit much anymore, but she forever touched the hearts of her friends. *S* I promised her long ago I'd remember her daughter with her... that's what this is. *S* And this may be the last time I do so in a poetic effort... but I'll always keep that promise in some way. *S* Thank you so much! *S*

How very, very beautiful... both the poem, and your heart, Suthern. You are a true friend.

It has been a very long time since I talked with our Rainbow girl.
Please tell her that Caroline sends her HUSG (remember? )... be sure to spell it that way lol.. and she will know.

Suthern, I think you captured Cindy's feelings quite well.  For all the times she spoke of her daughter, I began to wish I'd met her...

Excellent job...

Tuesday was a long day, seems odd to think 5 years have passed, when this last year has flown by and it took ages to find a place where it felt peaceful to lay my roses.

One day, I hope I can write again.

As I read your thoughts it was as if you were holding my hand, listening so carefully as I told you what happened, it's as much your memory as mine :-)

I hope you don't give up writing poems for Rachel and I but if you do, I know we'll never be far from your thoughts :-)

I have one more frame for this poem, all I need now, is a new home to hang it :-)

Thanks Mum

Suthern, I know that I've already replied to this poem, but I just want to say that this is why I love this place so much, and why I keep coming back here so often. There is so much love and true friendship on these pages of blue that Ron keeps going for us. It is really heartwarming to come back home here.

God bless you all...

Suthern...I thought that I had replied to this, but when I came back to read it again, I see that I did not.  Brought some powerful emotion to me, for I also remember Rachel.  You write to the pain of a mother's heart.  Hugs to both you and Cindy.
