Reading the news today
    it can be seen
         what one wrong letter
             can really mean...

someone in a big
white house
zeroed in on IRAQ
and said we really need
to attack

now it seems they really meant IRAN?

a mis-communication perhaps?
a government intelligence report typo?

hospitals have been sued
when doctors accidentally
followed incorrect charts,
sometimes taking out
the wrong body parts
from the wrong patients
and the consequences are
they lose lots of money
sometimes
the doctors lose a license
sometimes
a patient loses a life

who loses when we go after one bad guy
with a bunch of guns
while stumbling and bumbling past
an even badder guy
with bigger and meaner guns?

oh, and what if we
mistake north for south?
as in Korea?

how many people under 18
know the difference
between north and south
Viet Nam?

as for the rest of the world,
does anyone here know
the capitals
of other countries?
such as
Uruguay?
Paraguay?
Sierre Leone?
Zimbabwe?
Costa Rica?
Belgium?
Alaska?

ok, so the last one might be a joke
but war isn't

This is too true!
I think we will see many poems on war, but none more heartfelt than yours. Ken

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Seems the list of "evil" swells and enemies reside behind each bush..er..shrub. Gee how did all this start and who was it who first "nuked" someone?

kayjay, thank you for reading this one, and for your reply. It's really getting embarassing, and scary.

RS Exactly. Thank you so much for your reply.

Hey there Lori! Yes, why don't we just go nuke half a dozen countries at once and hope we get the right ones? SHEESH! it's gone so far beyond sheesh though.
I'm moving to another planet as soon as possible.

Hi Midnitesun - I usually stay away from poems about war, but this one was from a different perspective, and nicely handled without cliches.. a good write in my humble opinion.. thanks for the read

kind of whimiscal, but it sure drives the point home, like its hard to tell the players , the button pushers, without a scorecard

You sent this to the big house,

Good catch, Kacy...
