A well constructed argument
of the government

representative
of house

and Senators
stand proudly beam...

"Tell me now that it's the best...
see the fallacies?"
Then he spoke
electoral
votes
and my head pounded scream.

"Tell me how you call this free?"
I was confused.
"Explain to me."
His face grew shade
of red at chin
rising swift to his
forehead
he spat twice
and licked his grin
(he had this funny quirk of lip)
halfway fat to my delight.

I then asked him to explain
miles and population
Like lampoon, I saw him red
and there was no explanation.

He called me a Communist.
I asked him to explain again.
"Socialist" was his next word--
he told me Marx did live again
and blasphemied the very chair
paid for by red white and blue?

What the hell?
I scratched my head.
He pointed at me--
"I mean you."

I thought we were discussing this,
and opened mouth to protest such.
I saw his stance of hand on hip
and so I called him a "fascist."

Then I saw biology
of colors ranging in a face--
purple to the sweetest pink
and then I saw white face of rage.

"YOU..." he said and I was shocked.
who, me? I prayed for tick of clock.
"Go to the office with no pass--"
and I could not believe my luck.

I was ordered, (stoning due)
for the freedom of my speech.
I looked at him, (I was smart-ass)
I gathered books and shrugged--"Y'see?"

I remember you telling this story, Karen. Enjoyed hearing it. Rock on!

Kari? You asked the punchline of the story actually. He quit teaching and became a trumpet player in a brass band here in New Orleans. And we all lived happily ever after.
