Confessions of a Poet

at times
I grab at strings
fit for webs
that can not support
my own emotions
and breath echoes
in my lungs
as a sigh
singed by
inhaled smoke
as bare feet
hot on black top
walking to
dangerous places
continue on
and these steps
mimic my heart
as heel to toe
heel to toe
and it is true
I am both
blessed and cursed
for even when
I am at
the tip of love
or the point
of pain
words still flow

"Don't let the mistakes of your past be the journey of your future."

very well done...

it does seem the poet and words are not easily separated.. you capture that well.

Hello Helen

I can relate to this so easily for it doesn't matter whether I'm happy or sad, the words continue to flow profusely.  My writing is definitely driven by my emotions so I have to have a pen and paper handy at all times.  I'm sure there are many who can relate to this.

Take care.......Sue

(sigh) There is one entity every emotion has in common, every one has a voice of its own, and therefore we write, we sing, we comprehend our emotions and that is what makes the living word live! (big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, this certainly has my vote, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Helen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

The poet's blessing and curse!  But most likely more a blessing.  The words become that outlet that lets the feelings flow.  A wonderfully crafted piece my friend.

1slick_lady, this is quite a confession.

Wonderfully said, especially the final statement, pain and joy are definitely inspirations to poetry. You've likely already noticed that "breath" needs an "e" on the end to make it a verb.

Oops, it doesn't say you desire critique, so I hope you don't mind the teacher in me coming out.

Damn! Exactly!  This is a poet's creed, most profound and written with your usual flair and honesty.  This is a MUST for the book. And I'm also saving this in my library.

I know that I dote on you too much, but, seriously, you ARE a poet, girl!

Take care,
Melissa~

Words flowing crimson, passions hot and a palpable pulse. Keep dropping words through the web/net. When they're of this quality they're sure to be caught. I've been staying away from the book (for my own reasons) but this gets a vote. Well done Helen.
