~*~

Distant drums in primal beating,
Rousing passions of long ago,
Stirrings from forgotten history,
Haunting dreams of sling and bow.

In dark of night, my soul is restless,
Memories lost, roll in revue,
The rising haze of misty veils,
Where lives, once lived, stream through.

Healing herbs and starlight crystals,
Breath of smoke to cleanse the soul,
Spirit warrior, brave, and shaman,
Are calling me from long ago...

~*~

(smiles) Is this the mighty shaman you seek?

(smiles) Hehehe, couldn't resist, I am mostly Cherokee Indian blood and do not deny my heritage so I hold these traditions dear to my heart! (kiss on cheek) May the mighty drums roar on in your heart, sweet friend, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

and here I had to carry on and write a big old long poem about it....  You're in my mind tonight, and summed up the same thoughts I was having.

This was so peaceful and pleasing to read.
Thank you for lifting my spirits EA~

BluesSerenade ~

That was a very special reply. To me that is what writing poetry is all about...connecting one's heart and thoughts with others.

It pleases me that my poetry was able to help raise your spirits.

Sweet memories,

And my sister just dismissed my interest as me "having this thing for drummers." LOL

I like this very much, EA... there is something so very stirring and special about listening to drums that speak a message... even if you don't understand, you feel. *S*

I do love this one, Linda.  I'm half Cherokee, so can easily relate to this poem that I'm keeping in my library.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

I'm thinking of mounting a dream catcher above the bed to sort them all out for me. The place you go sounds interesting.

Linda, Native American spirituality, stories, poems and history fascinates me. This was a delight to read and I thank you for taking me on a journey with you.

I found this graphic today and couldn't wait to share it with you. I'm trying to write a poem using it, but nothing has come forth yet!!!
It's called 'Soul Sister' by Melissa Harris.

Hugs, Marti

Michael ~

You being part Cherokee is another reason that I like you!  I identify so much with native culture and lore even though I have not a drop of Indian blood in me--at least not in this lifetime!

~ As your heart beats so do the drums of your ancestors...

I have a lovely dream catcher hanging in my bedroom by the window. The rays of the moon filter through creating lovely patterns on my wall.

~ May a dream catcher bring you peaceful nights and wonderful mystical journeys...

Perhaps you could join me some night on one of my mystical journeys...

My dear, sweet soul sister. That picture of the two of us is very special to me! Thank you for posting it. I hope that you can find the words to put to it. Knowing your poetic ability and loving heart---you will!

~ As the sun does set and the moon does rise, voices of the distant pass grow stronger...

Sweet dreams and may all your nightly journeys add wisdom and joy to your days...

Thank you for saying that "it sings".  I tried to write with a cadence that would represent the beat of the drums.

~ Listen and you will hear...

Sweet dreams,
