to read a news story about the Chingay Parade, Singapore

Parades of fantasy,
exaggerated reality,
so much fun
for everyone
amidst chaos and turmoil.

Masks and costumes,
dancing and juggling...
contagious confetti coverups
for pain and fear.

Modern 'merican Mardi Gras
....S'porean Chingay Parade.

Are they one and the same
dance?

Oh, don't we hope so, Kacy...
we are not so different...

so many more of us want to celebrate life...
don't you think?

Thanks for the reply Karilea.
Yes, the more different we appear, the more we are the same. Ironic, isn't it, that we keep fighting against ourselves?

Allright, I read your happy one and enjoyed it. How's that? (I'm in a strange mood right now)

my eyes popped right out as i read this...hey, this is something about my country....ya, the Chingay procession is an event i eagerly looked forward to when i was young (these days, i seldom have the patience to sit in front of the TV for 2 hours)...in my opinion though, i think this celebration has become rather commericalised, something that you do to impress the tourists with surface meaning behind it all...

that article reminded me that it's still all great fun...and now that it has a theme, maybe i will make a point to watch next year...

you will have to educate me about Mardi Gras though?
