When I was only five,
I always felt helpless
when mom and dad would fight.

I was usually frightened
by strange sounds in the night.

I often curled up in the corner by day
and always curled in fetal position at night.

Not too much has changed since those early days
except now I am rarely found
curled up in the corner by day,
and I am no longer afraid of the night.

But the sounds of fighting
frighten me more now
than they did when I
was the helpless child
of five.

Fetal beginning
fetal ending...
Is this the meaning of the circle of life?

Kacy...a powerful write.  One needs to read this carefully to see the inner message...

it's going to be all right, my dear.. I believe it to be so...

from my mouth, to your heart, to God's ear...

Julie, too bad that sadness is part of life.

Sue, hugs to you. I'm so happy that you've joined this board!

Karilea, thank you for that! I seem to be on the edge somedays. I go back and forth between being strong and just wanting to curl up and cry.

I haven't read any of your poems in amost a day; I'm shaking so bad; I must be going through withdrawl.  Very good work, very sad however.  Truly this is not the exhibition of the circle of life, there must be more.

I wish I could say everything is going to be okay and give you a warm hug Kacy...

I wish....but, I'm not so sure anymore either.

I love the way you worded this..

I know, Nancy. But at least I get to spend time sitting upright reading the wonderful writes of Pips. It keeps me outta that cornered position!

Wind, I sure hope you also read the one that is a bit more positive, for it is the essence of me, rather than just a fragmented piece. I must plead temporary insanity with some of the things I post.
But fighting....is insane.

From one who found shelter curled up as a child, some things pass.  But the urge to curl stays.  Well said.  Ken J
