Light A Candle Once More?

Here I am,
once again holding dried rose petals
spending my day thinking about you.
Though the sweet scent of the rose vanished long ago,
remembrance of a soft touch lingers,
and as I lightly rub the petals with my fingertips
once more,
I’m wrapped up in your love
and I smile, remembering
how I gazed at you from my window
as you picked those beautiful red roses
and I can still see the smile on your face
as you walked through the door.
In an instant I knew
I was completely in love.
Guess I sound like a hopeless romantic
but as I count the steps I’ve taken since then
I know,
everything’s alright
and like a timeless romantic ballad
I won’t stop loving you,
because I believe a love like this
so beautiful in every way
is meant to stay,
so why should I try to stop loving you?
If we turned out the light
and lit a candle would love grow?
I don’t know,
so for now
I’ll drink this glass of wine
and pretend
