~*~

Once I was a willow weeping,
Swayed by winds both to and fro,
Never laughing, only sighing,
As wailing winds did blow.

Now I am a regal redwood,
Standing tall and very proud,
In the earth my roots are grounded,
While my crown is one with cloud.

~*~

Ah this is very very beautiful...
I love the weeping willow...
for it bends but will not break.

Linda,

Loved this, as well as Sy's and Joyce's replies.

As sappy as I get, I'm probably a maple!

Hugs to you for the lovely tree thoughts, you are all that and more.

The saying you quoted, is one that I have  often used to help me get through difficult times in my life! Another one that I have also used :  "...and this too shall pass!"

Yeppers! My trials and tribulations didn't kill me and they are now in the past--AND I am now much stronger!
There are always new mountains to climb, but I now know that I will reach every summit and the view will be spectacular from there!

I appreciate your thoughtful response to my poem! Thank you!

(smiles) Oh Linda, this is beautiful, sweet friend, this made me smile as so many of your beautiful words do! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, many people think I am a very happy person but many misunderstand me, for I used to be in the deepest darkness and cried on my bed almost every day! (big hugggsssssss) Yay, I'm so happy you're a whole new tree now, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!
