Sweet Pea
(in loving memory of my dad)

I was his sweet pea
even then

after the slamming door

the scream within my pillow

the radio’s love song
where I took a breath of dying

He gave me that in his waiting
listening as my mirror broke
      (oh he felt
it was his own...I see that now)

My tendrils
slide beneath the door
trying to find the sun
around
    and about
folding and folded

        still

I climb the whim of his shoulder
moving toward the light of him

The photo of your Dad among the sweet peas and your tender poetic expression, have pulled at my heartstrings. Very special and thank you for letting us share in something so personal.

Sending loving hugs to you both!

Sweet. Absolutely sweet.

I hope that some day someone -- remembers me in such a beautiful way.

Absolutely beautiful, and touching, and poignient, and... there just aren't enough words. And the picture just touched it all off.

Oh my!  That love just sifted like sand through my mind Martie.  How terribly lucky you were to have had that heart connection.  What a tender write this was.

Thank you!  My dad sometimes just fills me and it helps to write him, otherwise I might explode.  He continues to be an inspiration.

Martie, you actually created a chill with this one....climbing the whim of his shoulder...absolutely outstanding. If you are any measure of what kind of man he was then he was a giant..
