~*~

At break of dawn
I rise each day,
and greet the morning sun,
I waste not a precious hour
until my day is done.
I work and play,
and learn and grow
~ keeping busy all the while,
greeting people that I meet
with a sunny, open smile.

I may be scarred by hidden pains,
always lurking 'round the bend,
but often tears are wiped away
by hand of loving friend.
Friends I have a plenty,
adding joy to my days,
surrounding me in love and light,
in many countless ways.

At break of dawn
I rise each day,
and greet the morning sun,
I waste not a precious hour
until my day is done.
I work and play,
and learn and grow
~ keeping busy all the while,
Greeting people that I meet
With a sunny, open smile.

Linda, you know that I totally relate to
this, don't you? I couldn't have said it this well, though.

Ethel, you and I think so much alike.

I believe that when I am feeling sad and life is getting me down, if I put on a happy face, it will put a happy face on my heart---and it usually does!

~ May your open, sunny smile always be a reflection of your open, sunny self!

Warm morning hugs,
Linda

Linda,
i like how your title complements your poem...your second stanza is duly suppressed by the identical first and third stanzas...

cool poetic expression!

Very cool write Linda...
I tend to do the same thing...put on a happy face.
Comes I believe from spending many years in front of an audience.

Kaile ~

Ah, you noticed how I suppressed the hidden pain in the second stanza. Actually I wanted to do it in a smaller font but I don't know how to do that in this format.
I also am pleased that you liked my title. Titles usually jump right out at me but this one was "hidden"! tehe

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply!

Spiros ~

Thank you!
I believe it is better to think positively rather than negatively. We tend to manifest what we think, so I try to put an up-beat spin on things. Sometimes that is a very difficult thing to do---but it is usually well worth the effort!

Have a great day!

You still do have an audience--we Pipsters!--and we can see your smiles through your words--and your cute pic!

~ Keep on smilin' thru' the pain, and soon all that will be left is a smiling heart!

Have a glorious day!

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Linda, I know just how you feel, sweet friend, I have many hidden pains inside of me, more than many think there is, and it truly is difficult writing them out and can be psychologically poignant! May love and light always shine upon you!

Don't know how you do it, Linda

Hiding pain, is much like hiding yourself, no?

But, darned if I don't admire your attitude.

Peace,

I don't believe that hiding my pain is hiding a part of myself. I deal with the pain, but it is not a part of who I am. It is just some baggage that can clutter up the real me if I let it. From time to time I need to do a good house cleaning!

Thank you for your thoughtful reply!

My Dear 'M' ~

I am so blessed to have made such a special friend as you, dear heart! We are there for each other in good times and bad, we share all our joys as well as the times when we're sad!---and as the song goes, "...and that's what friends are for!"

Big hugs and a happy smile to you, girlfriend!

I admire your always cheerful attitude and this shows all the love you put into everything, the real you. Like it alot.
though... well, as I'm sure you've noticed, I tend to be rather negative... somehow I find if I put a smile on my face, when my heart is sad, then I lie to myself and become more pained. ..though I've come awful good at hiding physical pain, and tears. Guess we're all just a bit differen't

I believe that experiencing a wide range of emotions is condusive to good writing. I, for one, would like to pass on the painful ones, but drawing on that pain can at times add depth and dimension to one's poetry.

~ May your beautiful, romantic and magestic poetry be a true reflection of your reality...

"fake it until you make it"... :-)  Sometimes the hardest thing on earth to do is smile without breaking into tears...and sometimes we get so busy in our everyday lives that we don't think about how we really are feeling....

liked it....

I waste more time than I should... but then, I get to blame it on being blonde. LOL It's tough to get moving when you can't find your mind. *G*

And all too often, those pains sneak outta their hidey holes... just to see if they can ruin my day... but then, someone shares a smile... and it makes all the difference. *S*

Thanks for all those times you were the smile source... I like this very much!

The part of this that appeals to me is that you wrap the pains that beset you by putting them between the open and closing stanzas...so that while you weep inside, you keep your sunny face to the world...and who knows, in that sunny world may be one who erases the pain :-).  Ken
