My father, my father
Why did you leave?
Momma did the best she could
To raise me
But your departure
Left a hole in her heart
That's as big
As the Nile is long
Did you leave us
To marry
The mother of my sister
That you fathered mere days
After you fathered me?
Tell me please
Why did you defile me?
Callously steal my youth
Shatter my innocence
Leaving me further scarred
Making it impossible
To see myself
For the treasure that I am?
Leaving me susceptible
To other abusive relationships
Did you care so little?
Did you need sex that much?
Did you care that
It would leave me cringing from
A worthy man's tender touch?

I want you to...
I need you to see
The woman that you forced me to be
So very prematurely
See?
You did not break me!
I guess I should thank you
For what you put me through
'Cause now there are stars in my eyes
And someone told me that I shine
And I realize
That the trash you tried to make me
Is a lucky man's prize
And as my pen flows
My heart now knows
That though you deflowered me
I'm still a beautiful rose
So, thank you Father
For leaving me
For desecrating me
For the little girl lost
That again lives within me
She's exploring the world
Through my wise woman's eyes
Relishing the rain
And the lightning crashing in the skies
And the majestic sunset and
The glorious sunrise
She now knows her worth
Isn't defined between her thighs
Father Dearest, thanks again
For making me grow up too soon
Because the little girl lost
Now loves to howl at the moon
She loves taking walks
On windy afternoons
And looks forward to the longer days
That come in the month of June...

Through little girl lost
I've learned to laugh again
I've learned to love again
I've learned to be free again
I've learned to let people in...

I've learned that you are forgiven

I still love you,
Little Girl Lost
