Dear Lord, it's me, and it's time for bed
Please listen and bless me, I pray
I've tried to do as the Good Book said -
I've minded Mom all through the day.
It wasn't my fault that bathing the cat
Caused a mess all over the floor
Everyone was pretty mad about that
But I won't do such things anymore.
And I was only trying to learn
When I played with my brother's homework
But what a shade of red his face turned
(Between us, he's really a jerk!)
And yes, Dad yelled "Child, why don't you think?"
As he dug out my sister's hair brush
It was causing an overflow in the sink
How could I know that it wouldn't flush?
So Lord, it's been a pretty long day
And I've tried so hard to be good
But if you don't mind, I'd just like to say
I'm feeling quite misunderstood!

Enchantress: Glad I could give a few... thank you!!! *S*

JM: Nope... I understand Toe was so cute even as a baby that the Gerber kid was almost out of a job! LOL And this was actually written for a friend... who was overwhelmingly unimpressed with it. LOL So thanks for liking and redeeming my ego! *S*

EA: You posted while I was trying to type my thanks. *S* I was misunderstood... (still am *G*) but I'm the ham in the middle, not the baby. LOL I did, however, borrow a bit from my nephew... who's always trying to explain that his intentions were perfectly innocent! LOL Thanks so much... especially for the rhyming! *S*

This brought back a delightful memory of when my brother and I had seen better days, and Mom was, an, disciplining us...and my younger sister came in, after having been very, VERY good all day, crying...because mom was "loving" us more than her...

Aw, Suthern, I bet you were such a sweet baby! But now that you are an adult isn't it time to put away childish things....like your adoration of Toerag?

How sweet! Very adorable.

I love your sense of humor. I can't imagine anyone with a little demon not appreciating this.

I am sending this to my daughter. My 20-month old, red-headed holy terror grandson, is a perfect example of this poem.

His brother, my oldest grandson, aged 14, (6'2 already, and growing,), wrote a mini-poem about the baby, and one line was the baby is so tough, he could kick all their asses...and he needed to have a cone hat similiar to what dogs get,  to keep from biting himself and others....don't think there is much he hasn't tried. Smiling here. BTW, (oldest is not allowed, not wants to use such language, only in rare exceptions)

This is wonderful. Thanks for the laugh.

Hugs, Pat

Ringo: I think I WAS one... only my parents weren't nearly so understanding! LOL Thank you! *S*

Toerag: I have a feeling that if I'd known you then, I'd have been devoted even earlier! LOL Those brothers of yours were plain ole meanies... tattling on your innocent (and not so innocent! LOL) self! *S* Thank you... glad you liked! *S*

Phantom: Glad you enjoyed! *S* Thank you! *S*

garysgirl: Do a little dance... get down tonight! LOL

Sunshine: I swear I had more than my share of THAT kind of loving... and my sister didn't want any part of it! LOL

Bal: Now why on earth would I put away my finest characteristic? *G* My adoration of his fine self is timeless. *S*

Amara: Thank you so much! *S*

carol: Thank you! *S* I think they all are... In today's news, there was an article about a 3 year old who'd wandered out of the house, down the street... and almost onto the freeway... while dad was in the bathroom! (The good part was that the baby had literally stopped traffic... people kept pulling off the highway as they saw him.)

rkcraig: I'm so glad you do! *S* Thank you!

regards: ROFL... It sounds as though your daughter has her hands full... but also as if the entire family enjoys the chaos. *S* Thank you! *S*

nakdthoughts: I'm glad you enjoyed both! *S*

Seymour: LOL... You're talking about the feeling misunderstood, right... not that you have a hankering to wash the cat! LOL Thank you so much! *S*

Marge: I think that lil monster pops up in every household. *G* Trouble is, I lack a poker face... I always blush out my guilt! LOL Thank you, sweet lady! *S*

PS: I'm so glad... thank you! *S*

jellybeans: Best of intentions, worst of luck, hunh? LOL Thank you... so glad you got a smile! *S*

M'Toe: Thank you for such a great response... I know all about being busy and lacking poetry time. *S*

Cpat: And he sulks, too! LOL Or blames Long John... and then HE sulks! *G* And all the while, sweet Toe is the picture of innocence. *G* Thank you!! *S*

Wind: I'm glad you liked! *S* Thank you!!

suthern,
all I have to say is:

all through the day
they're hard at play
singing sings
and breaking things
but come the night
they're all contrite
and this what makes them sweet delight.
