Remembering

March the 4th is your birthday, my darling.
I've been hoping it could slip right on by.
I don't need a reminder, I always remember,
you're on my mind, New Years through December.
It was in February you left us.
That date is stuck fast in my mind.
Just ten days before, you'd have been one year
more.
No mother would need a remind.

I try to pretend that it's nothing;
just one more day without you, my son.
I'm truly thankful for all of the years
your birthday was nothing but fun.
If I had a wish for your birthday,
I would wish you had outlived me by years.
Since that cannot be, then my wish will be
I can get through this one without tears.

Oh Joyce,

This is so heart touching. No words suffice to tell you I know, because I've never had this kind of loss.

Just know you are in my heart and prayers and may the day pass quickly and you find peace of mind. You have my deepest sympathy.
