By My Touch

I am simple, a soft spirit,
yet hardened by the times.
I am a "throwback" to yesterday
when an early morning coffee
would start my day and the sun
would smile on me,
and the whole world would read me
fairytales in the making.

I would savor each moment of life,
noticing the morning dew on a blade of grass,
the opening of a rosebud, silence broken
by the songs of a robin and hum along
to contentment, just to be.

I will walk that trail today,
soaking in memories, eyes open dreaming,
pulling my coat tighter, to hold in the warm
and keep the cold from stealing those thoughts.

I will sing those tunes of love,
where no one else can hear,
will let the tears flow
for every day I have lost, balancing them
with those I have saved and written in my heart.

I will skip to the music,
pick up pebbles and finger them,
giving them warmth before I toss them back,
for someone else to find.

Today is for me; you will find me
reaching inside pulling out the afterwards,
opening my eyes to a world of imperfection,
made perfect by my touch.

M

Can this "throwback" join you
on that trail?

Sure...if you don't mind 15 degrees today..I am going to begin doing this everyday to cleanse my soul...or until I catch pneumonia... I figure I need to stimulate myself. *s

Margherita

the NOW is not so enjoyable, probably never will be again. So why not relish the good times of the past and dream a bit with my eyes open for a change...

thank you

I believe that joy always revisits those that experience pain or loss...it takes time and it takes a new desire...James

Maureen, I honestly believe that we should cherish our memories and handle them with care. They are something that no-one can take away from us.

Sometimes, our memories carry us over until we can make some new ones.

Heart hugs to you, friend

Thank you Vandana, James and Ethel...I am a bit tainted as I have aged, and in a time when love doesn't mean what it use to anymore,at least in my opinion.

I lived idealistically before and now must spend the rest of my life living realistically.
