"No" I stated
With more sincerity
Than my age allowed.

"You need to."
He firmly said,
Frustrated and without heed
To the scar he made.

"Have you looked into my eyes lately?"
I fought tears and leaned to the wall,
For balance.
"Have you seen my stride and wondering?"

The room was too quiet,
We awkwardly avoided looking at each other,
And to fill the silence and stop the tears
I said with my hearts beat:
"Do you realize... how much it hurts... to move?"

He walked away.

Silent again,
I stumbled for the bed
And gasped for just one breath.

I heard some fumbling in the other room.
Hiding my head beneath the blankets
I slowly cried and pretended
To have fallen asleep.

Getting up for just a moment
I jotted down "I Love You"
On an old receipt,
And left it for him to find.

Then, steady,
As to cause the least pain,
I crawled back under my blankets
And drifted away.

- And so it was that time stood still -
     (blink, breathe, stand, fight)

I felt her pain in this, yet I am left wondering, is it love's pain or something else?  If it is love's pain I love that the mere act of crawling under blankets hurt.

Susan,
thanks for replying and for reading and feeling this too. I love to leave people wondering..! but in reality ~she~ was crying because of mainly love's pain.. but also a twinge of the pain it takes to move.
Thanks again

Always, Alyssa

Pat,
I suppose there are reasons why it seems real. Was real when it happened too Thank you
hugs and love to you, also.
Take care.

Albert,
thank you, and yes, sad... but real at least. I know its not a great write of mine, but I don't write for it to be great thanks again.
