You were a delicious study in burnt umber.
Lamp black skies beamed
through your eyes so deep
midnite could not see
they covered up
a pale shallow soul.

What a shame,
for you had a chance
to capture romance
in the brush of two lips,
and burn your image
into mine forever.

Instead,
you chose
to cover up your love,
whiteout your emotions,
thereby erasing
our unique rainbow.

Your image still paints itself
before eyes that cry
for the look of you
upon each new face I see.
You are forever
my burnt umber memory.

Nancy, Maureen, Duncan...
Thank you, for sharing this moment of memory. Yes, 'tis a necessary color for emotional writing, and my favorite for prepping a canvas for a portrait.
