Emergency

Here’s how I wrote the thing:

See, it hits me right there
in the book store,
somewhere between Hemingway
and Billy Collins. I got no pen,
no paper, nothing.
So I scrounge the aisles,
scam a golf pencil over by
the magazines, chew back a
little wood
to get some
lead on it. Don’t
care where
it’s been.

Paper. Clearance tag, yes!
John Somebody’s book goes
back to full price,
a precious
yellow sheet palmed as
I duck out of
sight behind the Famous
Women In Literature rack
and pump it out,
small, fast,
cram it all down onto that
yellow tag, back and
front, right across the
big red price, writing really
tiny at the last
to make it
fit --

And I won’t tell you
which one it was!
I won’t!

Ed...there is a lesson here..what is it?  Paper, that's it!  and a pencil?  Then the fine art of writing without a keyboard.  This poem is fun, no matter which one!

Ed, you have got the most delightful sense of humor. LOL.....BTW, you should have seen me when I first got on here. If it hadn't been for these sweet people here always helping me, I don't know what I would have done...HeeHee!!

Oh, about your poem. This is so true. I've wrote ideas down on unbelievable things. It's really frustrating whenever you lose those little papers, isn't it?  LOL

Now, are you gonna tell us which one it was??(not that it makes any difference, because you're so talented all of yours are excellent.)

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Ed...happy to find this again!  I wrote a part of a poem today on my delivery sheet while driving....actually, whenever I had to stop for light or something...the poem was just going crazy in my head...so I had to.  When I have time, I hope I will be able to translate it into something poetic!!
