A Talk

I invited them all today for a talk,
Alicethruglass and Lady Ollyne
and of course nakdthoughts,
to decide which shall stay and
become The Only, and if words
could exist without one another.

Alice threw a tantrum, knowing
that glass is her boundary
and she would be stuck
forever unless I allowed her to step
occasionally through the breaks
in my stride. Her tears matched mine,
and I really don't want to say good bye
but she often wears me down,
thinking too hard, the worries
producing more wrinkles in her reflections,
than I care to see.

Lady Ollyne, is stuck in a time warp
waiting for her Knight to carry her days.
Always star struck with moonlight in her eyes,
shades of blue clinging to her body,
always hopeful. sleeping with her memories.
Gracefully she would go, if I wanted her to,
retreating inside to that place
where lost love hides, settling in
for another long period of cold.
She is the one who brings me hope,
and joy at times when most needed.
But she entertains my will and would do
as I say.

Nakdthoughts is the problem child,
overly sensitive, always demanding understanding
and answers to questions that do not exist.
She will push the envelope, keeping it open
yet closes off her heart whenever
her mood is swayed
by an outbreak of emotion.
At times I think she is hopeless,
always wanting the missing pieces
to her life, not wanting to feel whole,
but just wanting to feel.

And then there is Me, at times
all three of them, putting on the different masks,
parading myself in front of you,
many times regretting the words
I have to offer.
Wondering if you can see through them all
and can find the depths of me
somewhere, hiding, wanting to be freed
of hurt, dismay, disappointment and sadness.

Time is a great healer, but
it can never take the place
of the moments shared, good and bad
and I know I am richer for all that
has happened to Me, if only the others
would let me go.
M

knights tarnish in the light of day,
i feel these things too, lots of characters
running around in my head, pippi longstocking
has always been my favorite, she really did go her own way and she was a wacky chick, like me,  she lives inside me, fighting
with the one who wants the knight still,
very creative

This is a very cool write...a wonderful introspective dance with your muses. They are all a part of your poetry..each a layer of self discovery...each to be embraced and each to be revered for the words they inspire in you.
take it from one whose muse is often slight, enjoy their company.

Ask the stars all that I wish for
and they will tell you true ...

I loved Pippi Longstocking *s

I am not sure if you know or not, I think most do, as I am not hiding in those names, just expressing a different style of writing, but I write as Alice and as Lady O at times...
*s

I sometimes wonder if my headache is caused by the 3 of them arguing as to who will come out today

I never knew you were these other poets...but something in their style has always been familiar.  This was wonderful, and very open. I applaud you...all of you.

don't let them go, M
mine take long vacations sometimes, but they need it
they return from time to time
(tho occasionally one retires)
I let each have their say
