(This is based on my past, when I had nightmares and feared falling asleep until the morning because of demons kidnapping me! )

Gaucherie
By: Noah Eaton
2/28/03

Alone
Playing Solitaire but can never win
Against discombobulated shadows in my room
I’ve been up all night
Knowing I must get some rest
But I must wait till I see the incandescence
Assuring me that the night will drift on by…

Hold on
I might just make it by a whisker
Before I fall away
And won’t return…

If you lose me, slap me out of this dream, oh please
Interrupt me if I start talking in my sleep
If only I didn’t have to make you see
This cursed world in me
If they get me, promise me that you will pray
I know, I’ll find a way out of this someday
And maybe if I live free of this enmity
God can save me…

Within these sacred spaces
Ticking clocks appear to be sleeping
While I’m the hand that rocks the cradle
I’ve made a gaucherie
But I’m not crazy, I assure you
I’m just a hopeless cause
Trying to find my monastery
Where I can stop reversing to menopause…

….and breathe
While my progress is filled with narcolepsy
And I’ve been derailed
I think I’ve gone blind…

If you lose me, slap me out of this dream, please
Interrupt me if I start talking in my sleep
If only I didn’t have to make you see
This cursed world in me
If they get me, promise me that you will pray
I know, I’ll find a way out of this someday
And maybe if I live free of this enmity
God can save me…

I’ve been crawling on the floor
I hear them knocking at the door
Eventually they’ll break me and take me away
As I suffer for the daybreak…

If you lose me, slap me out of this dream, please
Interrupt me if I start talking in my sleep
If only I didn’t have to make you see
This cursed world in me
If they get me, promise me that you will pray
I know, I’ll find a way out of this someday
And maybe if I live free of this enmity
God can save me…

I’m not insane
I’m just hopeless…
I’m not insane
I’m just hopeless…
Only God can save me…

I’m just hopeless…

You're not even close to hopeless Noah!
We're all a little insane, and that's a
good thing, I think!

That must have been a living hell for an angel like you! Thank goodness, that is all in the past. You poor darling.

~ May your nights be peaceful and filled with unicorn magic...
